Our core competence is with the design and manufacture of Power Semiconductor Stack Assemblies combined with bespoke Engineered Thermal Management solutions.

In addition, we are the UK agent and distributor for Itelcond branded DC Film and Electrolytic capacitors.

Our services include the identification and procurement of key electronic components such as semiconductor devices, gate drives, capacitors, laminated busbars, fuses, resistors and fans – for use in our bespoke power electronic stack assemblies.

To compliment our power semiconductor stack assemblies, we design and manufacture a range of power Isolation Cells – designed to achieve high electrical insulation with a low thermal impedance, at ratings of up to 4400V RMS.

Power Semiconductor Stack Assemblies

PSL Assemblies design and manufacture all configurations of power semiconductor stacks including: Diode and Thyristor Bi-Polar assemblies, IGBT Chopper stacks, Static-transfer Switch sub-assemblies, and Inverter & Rectifier sub-assemblies.

Bi-Polar Diode & Thyristor Stacks

PSL design and manufacture all configurations of high power single-phase & 3-phase Diode & Thyristor Rectifier Assemblies – incorporating bespoke clamping systems and optimised thermal management. Our preference for Phase Control Thyristors and High Power Rectifier Diodes is Infineon, however other brands of semiconductor are available upon request.

IGBT-based Stack Assemblies

IGBT based stacks from H-bridge to Full Inverter configurations are designed & manufactured in-house to individual customer requirements – incorporating a range of forced air, natural air and liquid cooling methods. Our unrivalled technical experience in the manufacture of IGBT Stack Assemblies enables us to produce excellent quality Single Switch, Dual Switch, Chopper and Half Bridge IGBT assemblies.
All electrostatic-sensitive products are checked and assembled in our Electrostatic Protected Area, allowing us to supply high quality IGBT assemblies which meet the most rigorous of safety and quality requirements.

Engineered Thermal Management – Heatsinks & Liquid-Cooled Plates

PSL Assemblies design and manufacture custom-engineered high-density heatsinks and liquid-cooled plates. Utilising both standard extrusion profiles and bonded-fin technology, PSL design and manufacture all sizes of aluminium heatsink to individual customer requirements and specific application parameters. Our in-house CNC/VMC machining facility can produce any combination of drilled & tapped holes and milled sections into the heatsink profiles, and additional methods of cooling can be incorporated into our heatsink designs including embedded liquid cooling pipes.

High Density Bonded-Fin Heatsinks

PSL has a dedicated Bonded-Fin Heatsink manufacturing area. Cooled by natural or forced air, our bonded-fin heatsinks can be manufactured up to 750mm wide and 1250mm long, and can be machined with any configuration of tapped holes and milled sections. Pitch-to-height ratios far exceed conventional profiles and fins can be positioned to suit the precise nature of the heat source. All machining, bonding and assembly is carried out in-house by our fully trained technicians – ensuring consistent high quality and performance.

Extruded Profile Heatsinks

PSL design & manufacture extruded-profile heatsinks using both standard extrusion profile designs and also custom-designed profiles to suit specific applications. Strategic stocks of commonly-specified extruded profiles can be held in stock upon request, and we have immediate access to virtually all other globally recognised standard extrusion profile designs. Our in-house CNC/VMC machining facility can customise standard-extrusion profiles to add drilled & tapped holes, keyways and milled sections to your specific design requirements.

Liquid-Cooled Plates

Liquid cooling is the most effective thermal management solution for high power electronics.

PSL design and manufacture all types and sizes of liquid-cooled plates – incorporating copper, stainless steel and aluminium embedded tubes.

All CNC/VMC machining, assembly, pressing, bonding, leak & pressure testing and thermal analysis is carried out in our Dunstable facility.

PSL can supply liquid-cooled plates exactly to your drawings and specifications – alternatively we can provide a complete service including concept, design, feasibility, technical consultancy and thermal simulation

Isolator Cells

PSL is a specialist designer and manufacturer of Isolator Cells – designed to achieve high electrical insulation with a low thermal impedance, at ratings of up to 4400V RMS.  Our high-quality Isolator Cells are generally used to isolate live semiconductors from heatsinks held at earth potential, or in applications where string-connected semiconductors need to be isolated from each other.

PSL supply an extensive range of Itelcond Electrolytic Capacitors –  offering additional services including stock-holding, Kanban, scheduling and consignment solutions tailored to individual customer requirements.

Itelcond are manufacturers of some of the world’s highest quality Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors and have achieved UL standard E479600 for their AY, AYU, ACC, ACS, AZC and AZS series capacitors.
